Academic Programmes
The six years of primary school are an exciting journey in which students develop a love of knowledge, an ability to question and a desire to serve others, transfer what they have learned to unfamiliar contexts and continue to learn throughout their lives.
Year 6-7: Transition phase
The Graduation Season Programme aims to enhance the role of students as leaders and to ensure that they are involved in choices and decisions about issues that concern them. There is a systematic collaboration between academic departments to help students prepare adequately for the next stage.
Year 3-6: Developing as Learners
Opening the door to new possibilities, recognise and develop personal learning habits and skills, be encouraged to accept themselves, recognise and defend their personal boundaries and rights, and look after their own safety. The teaching programme reinforces and complements the basic knowledge and skills acquired in the upper grades and supports the extension of new knowledge. The number of subjects is increased. Learning modules provide more opportunities for active and differentiated learning.
Year 2-3: Transition phase
Ensuring that students have the basic skills they need to learn and strengthen each child's self-confidence as a student. At the same time, develop the ability to work independently and in teams and learn to take responsibility.
Year 1-2: Growing into a primary school student
Helping primary school children think big ideas allowing children to discover a strong passion for learning and support them to develop literacy, a range of enquiry and social skills, and the ability to learn collaboratively, which will be key to future learning. Children build confidence and understanding of how they learn best as a primary school student.
Transition from pre-school to primary school
Wanhui’s dedicated EYFS programme encourages children to take pride in the skills they have learnt in pre-school. A caring programme involving the whole school staff and seniors supports them to feel safe and included in their relationships and interactions, and to enjoy primary school.
